In 2010, owner Mark Overbay started experimenting with recipes after eating fresh nut butters when he was in Zimbabwe while a Peace Corps volunteer in the late ’90s. He played with different roast levels and nut combinations until he eventually hit upon his formula. Today Big Spoon Roasters makes a variety of nut butters, including almond ginger butter and peanut pecan, plus energy bars and peanut pecan oatmeal cookies.
